Dear Friends,

this week we have four contributions to our subject:

1) Overexpression of IGF1 in beta cells counteracts autoimmune diabetes in NOD mice;

2) Sofosbuvir treatment of HCV-infected diabetic subjects improves glucose homeostasis;

3) Changes in the intestinal virome appear to precede autoimmunity in diabetes-prone children. Of note, a role is being attributed to Circoviridae for the first time (instead of Picornaviridae);

4) Detection of persistent enterovirus infection in different chronic human disorders (post-polio syndrome, T1D, viral cardiomyopathy).
