Viruses & Diabetes Update
Dear Friends,
this week we have several papers of interest:
preclinical evaluation of a CoxB1 vaccine (Finland-Sweden) http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.vaccine.2017.05.057;
miRNAs produced in islet cells upon CoxB5 infection may influence the expression of diabetes susceptibility genes (Craig http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26558682);
the interesting observation of complement components being produced in brain during viral infection (similar studies could be done in viral diabetes);
aggegates of bifidobacteria lipoproteins may have protective effect against CoxB4 (Hober);
confluence of "different" epidemics in the US: HCV, diabetes, obesity, neprhopathy;
diabetes as predisposing factor to severe influenza;
finally, diabetic ulcers infected with Staph aureus successfully treated with phages (J Infect Dis).
Have a nice week end,
Antonio
